IntroductIon
Project Brief: For this project, I was asked to design a Turkish coffee cup for/targeting international markets and consumers as a part of efforts and campaigns promoting Turkish coffee and culture abroad.

The DesIgn
"The design is inspired by tea glasses that became a staple of Turkish culture both in the country and abroad. Also, it is known that the type of Turkish Coffee called "Dibek" is consumed in tea glasses. By using this connection I wanted to introduce "Dibek" to the international market along with the classic Turkish Coffee we all love and enjoy."
"As a challenge, I decided not to use any digital tools and immerse myself in the molding process. All CAD models and renders were made after the project was finished as form documentation."
DesIgn Process
As this project was focused more on form, rather than function I decided to go with lots of sketches in the ideation process.
After the initial sketches, I made orthographic drawings to use as stencils in the clay modeling process.
Clay Modelıng & Slıp castıng
Using the stencils I drew, I started the clay modeling process. After some trial and error, I ended up with a clay model which I would use as the master model for the slip casting process.
The molds were made using plaster, typical in the slip-casting process.
I poured the slip after the plaster mold was dry and the process resulted in a ceramic coffee cup.
After demolding the cup I left it to air dry before the kiln.
Here is a total recap of different stages of the process, along with the final cup.
